Getting There
For Rockland County residents, Stony Point Battlefield is wonderfully close! Situated in the town of Stony Point, the site is accessible via Route 9W, just a quick drive north from the center of Rockland. You’ll find ample free parking on-site, so you can easily stop by and start exploring without any hassle.
If you’re visiting from farther afield, like Manhattan, the site is about an hour and a half’s drive north. The route offers beautiful Hudson Valley scenery, making it a peaceful drive out of the city.

Let's set the stage: it's July 16, 1779. The American Revolution is in full swing, and British forces occupy Stony Point, a rocky promontory with a fort overlooking the Hudson.
